Like designers, if you give a programmer a problem with parameters, they’ll apply every bit of genius they have to solve it in the best possible way. If you tell them how to do it, you’ll suffer the wrath of an angry God.

okay, i am really getting sick of both designers and programmers with their high-horse shit. you shouldn’t have to approach your designer or your programmer with caution, they should be willing and ready to take whatever you throw at them and work it into the best possible solution it can be. no, you will not always get to do exactly what you want. get the fuck over it. it’s becoming really, really obnoxious now.

That’s all peachy and an optimistic way to look at it, but in the real world, that doesn’t happen. Everyone, and I mean everyone, from accounting to IT to management thinks that they are a creative genius. I’m not purporting to be one myself, but I’m the one who has the degree, I’m the one who went to school to learn this trade, I’m the one who knows how to do the work and how to do it right, so when you spend weeks on work and present it and everyone shits all over it, wanting to add starbursts and bevel type, pop-outs and crazy shadows, because they think it looks “hot” and will “pop” then you’ll realize why we go ape-shit when you tell us how to do our jobs. You stick to finance and management, let me deal with the creative. I understand there’s room if you have valid points, but as far as design goes, let me handle it.
